What can I do to help now?

Based on your level of support, there are a number of ways you can help the Obama for America Campaign:

There are a number of very effective ways that even the most passive supporter can help the Obama campaign. Just because you may not have a lot of time to devote does not mean that you are any less of an asset to the campaign. Below are a list of relatively easy (but very important) things you can do to help Barack win the Democratic Nomination in Nevada:

General Campaign Support (for the Passive Supporter):

  • Sign a Pledge Card - One of the most important things you can do! This is how the campaign tracks its progress and is vital to the planning and execution of its efforts in Nevada. To sign a Pledge Card, you can make arrangements with the campaign by calling (702)253-2008 or you can email A.J. at aplank@southernnevadaforobama.org

  • Make a Donation - No amount is too small! The Obama campaign has raised more money than any Democratic Presidential campaign in history because of hundreds of thousands of $5, $10, & $25 donations. Click Here to donate via the Obama for America Website. You can even set up a recurring donation at intervals of your choosing. Remember, the Obama campaign does not accept donations from lobbyists or PAC's, so it relies 100% on ordinary people just like you. You aren't donating money to a campaign, you're buying a piece of it!

  • Buy Campaign Merchandise - When you buy a T-Shirt, bumper sticker, button or yard sign from the Obama Store you are really serving a dual purpose. The money you spend is actually a donation to the campaign, and every time you show your support by wearing a button or T-shirt, you are increasing Barack's visiblity.

  • Create a page on My.BarackObama.com - My.BarackObama.com is an online community for Obama supporters to share their stories, passion and resources with each other. Make sure to join a few groups that fit your interests to meet and stay in touch with other supporters that share your interests.
Local Campaign Support (for the Passive Supporter): [Back to Top]

  • Show your Obama Spirit! - Show your support by displaying as much Obama related merchandise as you feel comfortable. You'll be surprised how often people will ask you about your T-Shirt, Bumper Sticker or Yard Sign.

  • Spread the message - Much more important than displaying the Obama logo, is spreading the message. This is a campaign about the hope of unifying a divided nation, the prospect of uprooting an entrenched system of special interests, and the dream of replacing small-minded, divisive corporate politics with practical, thoughtful and intelligent leadership with the goal of healing our scarred political system. In short, it is a powerful message that speaks for itself, it just needs you to help spread it. By telling your own personal story, sharing your passion, staying positive, hopeful and respectful, you are likely to cultivate more support than all the T-Shirts in the world!

  • Join Southern Nevada for Obama - Even if it is just to get on our mailing list, joining a grassroots group is the next step in making the transition from an individual preference to a true political movement. Becoming a member will not only give you the tools and resources to more effectively focus your efforts as an Obama supporter, but you are likely to develop friendships that will last a lifetime.

Neighborhood Campaign Support (for the Passive Supporter): [Back to Top]

  • Meet other Neighborhood Supporters - As you get to know the various Obama supporters in your neighborhood, stay in touch. If there are any Die-Hard supporters in your neighborhood or precinct who seem to be organizing campaigning efforts in your area, make sure they know you, and know they can count on you to show up to caucus on Jan 19th. Help those people out where you can.

  • Educate yourself about the Nevada Caucus - Obviously, the goal at this point in the election cycle is to make sure that Barack Obama wins the democratic nomination so he can move on to the General Election. For the first time in history, Nevada has a tremendous impact in the choosing of the nominee because we are (currently) the second state in the country to have its primary, which in our case is a caucus. It is absolutley essential that you learn the differences between the caucus process and a primary vote, because they are many. A good place to start is the Nevada Democratic Presidential Caucus FAQ. You can also download and print this information by clicking here.

  • Place a Yard Sign - By placing a yard sign in either your front yard, or a front window, you are increasing visibility and name recognition for the campaign. The more often people see the name Barack Obama, the more likely they are to look into the campaign when it comes time for them to start deciding who to support. You can purchase a yard sign from the online campaign store here or at the Las Vegas campaign headquarters. You can also download and print our unofficial grassroots sign by clicking here.
